I. Purpose and Objectives
Midocean University reflects, in all its procedures, a firm commitment to the principle of equal academic opportunity. The University ensures that admission processes are based solely on academic criteria, with no consideration of applicants’ personal or social backgrounds.
II. Scope
- All applicants seeking admission to the University’s programs at all levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD).
- Admissions and registration officers, and all staff involved in reviewing applications and making admission decisions.
III. Definitions
- Fair Admission: The evaluation of applicants’ files based on objective academic criteria without any demographic or personal considerations.
IV. Admission Principles
Admission decisions are based exclusively on:
- Academic qualifications and officially recognized certificates.
- Program-specific language proficiency requirements (Arabic/English).
- Relevant work experience required for postgraduate programs.
- Interview results and academic competency assessments where applicable.
V. Prohibited Admission Criteria
It is strictly prohibited for any of the following factors to influence admission or rejection decisions: Gender or gender identity.
- Nationality or national origin.
- Religion, belief, or sectarian affiliation.
- Physical, sensory, or intellectual disability.
- Social or economic status.
- Age, except where academically justified requirements apply.
- Any other affiliation not related to the academic requirements of the program.
VI. Compatibility with the Digital Learning Environment
As a fully online university, it ensures that:
- Digital application platforms and procedures are accessible and inclusive.
- Technical support is provided to applicants without requiring advanced digital skills in advance.
- Application materials and procedures are available in both Arabic and English.
VII. Complaints Mechanism
- Any applicant who believes they have been subjected to discrimination has the right to submit a written complaint to the Admissions Office within (30) days.
- Complaints are reviewed by an independent committee that does not include any members involved in the original admission decision.
- A written and reasoned decision is issued within (21) working days.
VIII. Review and Update
This policy is reviewed annually, and admission data is analyzed to identify any unintended discriminatory patterns and ensure proactive correction.
