Midocean University Students Participate in the Global MIL Youth Hackathon 2025

Midocean University students participated in the UNESCO Global Competition “Youth Hackathon 2025”, held as part of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week under the theme “Youth Leading the Way: Building MIL Solutions for Impact.” This participation reflects the University’s commitment to supporting youth creativity and encouraging its students to engage in international initiatives aimed at driving meaningful change.

Midocean University students presented a range of creative initiatives as part of their participation in the competition. These included Child Safety, a digital awareness campaign conducted through social media, and the educational game “ESCAPE THE LIE”, an innovative interactive initiative designed to promote media literacy among young people by training them to detect misinformation and distinguish between real and fake news generated by artificial intelligence. The students also presented the Future Media Hub project, which seeks to redefine how young people learn, create, and communicate in the media world through a unified platform. In addition, the Children’s University initiative aims to introduce children to university life at an early age through engaging activities that familiarize them with various academic disciplines while developing their critical thinking and media literacy.

These ideas demonstrate the creativity of Midocean University students and their role in supporting media and information literacy, combating misinformation, promoting critical thinking, and encouraging the responsible use of media in society.
