I. Purpose and Objectives
The University is committed to reducing plastic materials consumption and non-biodegradable materials across all its facilities and departments by adopting a friendly environmentally alternatives and promoting awareness of the risks of plastic pollution and its environmental impacts. This policy aims to achieve a sustainable campus environment that reduces waste and contributes to improving environmental quality and public health.
II. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All buildings and facilities within the University campus.
- On-site events, gatherings, and seminars.
- Graduation ceremonies and conferences.
III. Definitions
Non-Biodegradable Materials: Materials that cannot be broken down by microorganisms into natural components within a reasonable timeframe, resulting in their prolonged persistence in the environment and gradual accumulation when not properly managed or recycled.
IV. Core Policy Provisions
- Annual reduction in plastic consumption compared to the preceding year.
- Strengthen awareness among students, staff, and faculty regarding the hazards of plastic pollution and the importance of transitioning to sustainable alternatives.
