I. Purpose and Objectives

The University is committed to implementing best practices in water management and promoting the treatment and reuse of wastewater wherever feasible, with the aim of reducing environmental impact and achieving sustainability in water resource management. This policy includes supporting practices that enhance water use efficiency, prevent pollution, and encourage the reuse of treated water in compliance with applicable health and safety standards and relevant regulations.

II. Scope

This policy applies to:

All buildings and facilities within the University campus.
On-site events, gatherings, and seminars.
Graduation ceremonies and academic conferences.

III. Definitions

Water Reuse: The process of treating water following its initial use, with the aim of repurposing it for appropriate applications in accordance with applicable health, safety, and environmental standards.

IV. Core Policy Provisions

Reduce environmental impact through the effective treatment of wastewater generated across campus.
Ensure the quality of treated water to prevent contamination and safeguard the surrounding environment.
Increase the proportion of treated water reused within the University campus.
When selecting venues for external events and conferences, priority shall be given to facilities that demonstrate a commitment to water conservation standards.

V. Alignment with the Digital Learning Environment

Given the University’s reliance on an e-learning system, the following mechanisms are applied:

Implement awareness campaigns targeting students and staff on the importance of wastewater treatment and water reuse practices.
Encourage students and staff to adopt water conservation habits and develop an informed understanding of water treatment processes.
Broaden awareness among the University community of how modern technologies can be harnessed to advance and improve water treatment methods.

This policy is reviewed annually or as needed, taking into account key performance indicator outcomes, relevant legislation, and feedback received from University departments and related stakeholders.
