I. Purpose and Objectives

As a fully integrated online university, Midocean University represents a leading model of remote work. This policy establishes the framework and mechanisms governing digital work practices to ensure the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and institutional collaboration while safeguarding employee well-being.

II. Scope

● Faculty members and contracted lecturers.
● Administrative staff and academic support personnel.
● Technical staff and student support personnel.

III. Technology and Infrastructure Requirements

  • Employees shall maintain an internet connection that meets or exceeds the minimum speed requirements specified in the University’s Technical Guide.
  • The provision of work-related devices and equipment, or support for their acquisition, shall be governed by a separate policy.
  • Information security standards, including the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and data encryption shall be complied with.
  • University-approved tools, platforms, and applications shall be used exclusively for work-related communication and task completion.

IV. Performance and Conduct Expectations

● Employees shall adhere to the official working hours approved by the University and agreed upon with their direct supervisors.
● Accomplishments and completed tasks shall be documented in accordance with the University’s approved performance framework.
● Assigned goals and responsibilities shall be completed within established deadlines and in accordance with the required quality standards.
● Employees shall actively participate in scheduled virtual meetings with team members and University administration.

V. Availability and Responsiveness

● Internal communications shall be responded to within four (4) working hours during official business days.
● Availability hours for students shall be clearly communicated through the University’s digital portal.
● Time-zone differences shall be taken into consideration when scheduling meetings.

VI. Information Security and Privacy

● Personal devices shall not be used to process student data or sensitive information except through approved secure systems.
● Backup procedures shall be implemented to ensure the protection of work-related data.
● Any security breach or information security concern shall be reported immediately through the designated channels.

VII. Employee Responsibilities

● Employees shall maintain an appropriate workspace that upholds privacy and professionalism during virtual meetings.
● Any technical issue that may hinder work performance shall be reported promptly.
● Employees shall be responsible for maintaining the required level of productivity and ensuring that home or external working environments do not adversely affect work performance.

VIII. Review and Updates

This policy shall be reviewed annually or whenever significant changes are introduced to the University’s operating structure or the technologies used to support its activities.
