I. Purpose and Objectives

The University is committed to managing water consumption effectively across its campus by establishing clear standards for measuring, monitoring, and reducing water use while promoting efficient utilization of water resources.

This policy aims to implement sustainable water management practices and support environmental sustainability by enhancing irrigation systems and promoting the use of drought-tolerant landscaping and plant species.

II. Scope

This policy applies to:

All buildings and facilities located within the University campus.
On-site events, gatherings, and seminars.
Graduation ceremonies and academic conferences.

III. Definitions

The process of establishing measures and practices to monitor, control, and reduce water consumption, minimize waste, and improve the efficiency of water use.

IV. Core Policy Provisions

The University shall:

Improve water-use efficiency across all campus buildings and facilities.
Reduce water consumption and promote awareness of the importance of conserving natural resources.
Promote sustainable landscaping by utilizing drought-resistant plants and green spaces, while reducing dependence on conventional irrigation methods.
Ensure full compliance with established water conservation standards in the design and construction of all new campus facilities.

V. Alignment with the Digital Learning Environment

Given the University’s established e-learning infrastructure, the following mechanisms are applied to support sustainable water use awareness, including:

Launch targeted awareness campaigns directed at both students and staff, highlighting the importance of water conservation and promoting best practices for responsible water use.
Actively encourage students and staff to embrace a conservation-minded approach, while deepening their understanding of water efficiency standards and what these mean in practice.
Enhancing awareness among the University community of how modern technology can be leveraged to monitor, manage, and improve water consumption efficiency across campus.

Measuring and monitoring campus water consumption on a regular basis.
Implementing drought-resistant landscaping through the use of water-efficient plant species.
Applying water-sensitive construction standards in all new and renovated University buildings.

VII. Key Performance Indicators

Total volume of water consumed across the University campus.
Per capita water consumption rate among campus users.
Percentage of University buildings in compliance with water reduction standards.

VIII. Review and Update

This policy shall be reviewed on an annual basis, taking into account all feedback.
